As a marketing and technology consultant, my first project was to address the needs of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Project Querencia. Our team was tasked with identifying growth opportunities for donations and volunteers, and revamping the official website.

Marketing:

  • Objective — Increase donations and volunteer hours

  • Diagnosis — PQ underutilized its social media accounts, takes too much effort to consistently post and interact

  • Solution — Develop simple, low-effort frameworks for PQ to use when creating social media posts to reduce time and effort. Tailor Instagram towards recruitment, including increasing membership at existing locations and expanding to new regions. Tailor Facebook towards donations, as the older demographic is more likely to donate.

Technology:

  • Objective — Improve usability, organization, and aesthetic

  • Diagnosis — The old website was full of grammatical and development errors. It used a dark color scheme that was uninviting and did not encourage donations. It was hard to use and there was little organizational hierarchy.

  • Solution — Using Wix, we redesigned the website to have an inviting and positive aesthetic using light colors and gold/black text to match their logo. We increased usability by changing the scroll-heavy vertical design and added more navigation tools. We fixed errors and implemented modern, clean design elements.
